It’s not often a whole city gets involved in ‘make-believe’ to foster healthy imaginations.
Pirates from near and far, young and old, scurvy and scarred are invited to invade Port Adelaide in celebration of International Talk Like a Pirate Day. The 2-day Pirates of Port Adelaide Festival will be held over the weekend of 23rd & 24th September when visitors will discover an ocean of fun possibilities in the Port Adelaide Town Centre.
Festival Organisers are grateful for the support of Flinders Ports, Renewal SA and Maritime Constructions for letting the pirates into (and hopefully out of) the Port River and for supplying them with plenty of “Yarr” opportunities during their visit.
The 2017 Pirates of Port Adelaide Festival features South Australia’s Tall Ships, The One and All, the Historic Ketch Falie and the City of Adelaide Clipper. The Thieves Market will be selling loot and grub and X marks the Spot at The Port Mall for a Pirate dress-up parades, bouncy castle and craft workshops.
A face-painter in the City of PAE Visitor Information Centre will be turning innocent children into scary pirates so that they can head off, in character, to pillage and plunder using the Official Treasure Hunt Map.
Pirates are welcome in The Port after dark, too. Watch out for the Ghost tours, pub crawls and scoundrels on the streets!
The Jolly Rogers will be flying high and the Port made shipshape for the onslaught. Avast and Ahoy Me Hearties, The Pirates of Port Adelaide will welcome ye at the 2017 Festival!
