The new $40 million Fund My Neighbourhood program from the State Government will give our community the power to decide how they want to improve their streets and suburbs. In one of the world’s biggest participatory-budget exercises, South Australians will nominate and vote on neighbourhood improvement projects in their local communities.
Residents will be able to access one-off grants valued between $10,000 and $150,000 to fund diverse projects, initiatives and development that aims to strengthen neighbourhood cohesion and upgrade of local infrastructure.
The State Government has indicated that projects should align with one or more of the following categories:
1. Open space, sport and recreation
2. Mobility, transport and safety
3. Health, wellbeing and inclusion
4. Arts and culture
5. Environment and sustainability
6. Innovation and technology
You can find out more at https://fundmyneighbourhood.yoursay.sa.gov.au or by calling 1800 791 384.
Nominations close on Friday, September 8 2017. Eligible projects will then be put to the online vote, with successful projects announced later this year.
