Growing for Gold encourages young people aged 3-16 to participate in sporting and recreational activities within their local community. The program is run during the September/October school holidays. Throughout the program, local sport and recreation providers from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the City of Salisbury, will be opening their doors to offer club activities FREE of charge to participants.
Fully supervised club sessions are designed to introduce young people to a wide range of different sport and recreation opportunities, with the focus on:
Built into the event is an incentive scheme that encourages young people to try different activities and most importantly to take the next step of joining a club of their choice. The following incentives are provided to participants:

The Growing for Gold program is an excellent opportunity to promote your club / organisation to the local community and to increase participation & membership through your programs and competitions. History has shown Growing for Gold to be very successful in generating membership for the local clubs with an approximate average of 20% of participants going on to join a participating club.

To provide an avenue through which local sports and recreation clubs can promote the programs and services they provide for young people.
The Growing for Gold program aims to encourage young people to try a variety of different activities in recreation and sport, then take the next step and join a club(s) of their choice.
This is the first year that Growing for Gold has been run in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, however it has been a successfully run program in the City of Salisbury since 1999.
On average the Growing for Gold program successfully engages up to 500 young participants in each council area, with approximately 20% then registering to join a club.
