The City of Port Adelaide Enfield recognises and appreciates the service, commitment and achievements individuals and organisations give to enhance the community spirit and pride. Council conducts annual awards programs under several categories to acknowledge and celebrate those in the community who work to help others and enhance the quality of life in the Community.
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield, in association with the National Australia Day Council, is now seeking nominations for the 2017 Australia Day Awards. These awards are in recognition of residents who have made an outstanding contribution to the community.
The major awards are as follows:
Australia Day Citizen of the Year
Nominee must have made a significant contribution to the community during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.
Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year
Nominee must be 30 years of age or younger on 26 January 2017 and have made a significant contribution to the community during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.
Community Event of the Year
Recognises a person or group presenting an outstanding or beneficial community event during the year which has provided opportunities for participation and attendance by the community.
Emerging Event/Community Group
This award is presented to a person or group in recognition of an emerging community group or event established in the last 12 months, which addresses emerging issues or identified opportunities for change in the Port Adelaide Enfield community and promotes community inclusion, participation and well-being.
Council, at its discretion, may recognise other individuals, groups or organisations for outstanding achievement, contribution to the community, or other endeavour.
