Hard Refuse Collection
Hard refuse are items that are too heavy or large to put in the domestic waste bin. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield provides residential properties with up to 4 (maximum) free hard refuse collections per calendar year. Bookings must be made in advance as there can be a 4-8 week wait in peak usage areas. The maximum amount of items collected per service is 2 6X4 trailer loads or 2 cubic meters.
Items must be placed out the night before the scheduled collection and be able to be lifted by 2 people. Items must be placed on the nature strip in a safe and secure manner clear of walk ways and not on the street or footpath to ensure the safety of all street users.
Items that will be collected
Furniture, mattresses, old roofing or fencing iron, bundles of pruning's no longer than 2m in length and 30 cm in diameter, electrical items including televisions (3 maximum), toasters, computers, refrigerators, freezers and washing machines (must have doors removed for safety), broken toys, bikes old and unwanted household items.
Items that will not be collected
Liquid waste such as motor oil and paint, tyres, car bodies, car tyres, large scrap steel, concrete, bricks, rocks, dirt, gas bottles, ammunition or explosive material of any kind or recyclables that are able to be disposed of in the kerbside recycling bin.
