Semaphore Library is a beautifully restored building and plays an important role in life of the community. It has had a varied history, starting life in 1884 as the Mechanic Institute. Later it became the Semaphore Town Hall and in 1929 was extensively renovated to become a cinema. The latest restoration in 1993, including the magnificent art deco interior, has allowed a piece of Semaphore history to be put to a new use, which everyone can enjoy.
