Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is the disposal of items placed on Council land without permission. This is a criminal offence that carries fines up to $5000.

Illegal dumping of hazardous wastes can carry even larger penalties; a South Australian Court recently convicted and fined an individual $15,000 for illegally dumping asbestos.

If you have waste items to dispose of please don’t risk a fine. Council provides a free hard refuse collection service to assist residents to dispose of many large items such as furniture.

For details and to book, refer Hard refuse Online Booking or call the waste line free call 1800 777 844.

Council Officers investigate illegal dumping. If you have placed items on Council land without a booking you may receive a fine and will be asked to return items back to your property.

Refer Councils Online Services to report illegal dumping.
