Business Support

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield has a strong employment base currently sustaining some 44,000 jobs. The vision is to reaffirm and significantly increase employment opportunities in our city by creating a flourishing, competitive and sustainable business and tourism environment that adds value to our community.  Council's City Plan includes goals that will see it continue to develop opportunities for economic diversification and support and recognise business initiatives that employ local people.

Council seeks to ensure that strong and effective linkages exist between the community, education and training providers and local employers.  If you are thinking of bringing your business to our City, or commencing a new enterprise, the Adelaide Business Hub will be a handy first port of call. The Adelaide Business Hub was launched in 2012 to communicate its three key services under one banner: one on one business consulting support, nationally accredited business training targeting small business, and the Todd Street Business Incubator and a Co-Working Hub that provides affordable communal business space serviced by wifi, professional facilities and mentoring support.

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is a key stakeholder in the Adelaide Business Hub.  Since Council’s original investment in the Todd Street Business Incubator property in 1999, the Hub has attracted more than 130 businesses that have produced $185 million in combined annual revenues and created 270 new jobs.   The Business connects with more than 1500 businesses across the Council area annually.

Council’s investment has been leveraged to attract project funding from state and federal governments, providing direct benefits to the local business community that included employee growth by 18% and annual revenue increases of 20%.

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield has initiated a pilot grant program to assist local small businesses in the Port Adelaide Commercial precinct to improve access to their building by people who have a disability. With many older and heritage buildings within the Port Adelaide Commercial precinct, this Grant has been established to encourage repurposing of older building to preserve history, whilst encouraging new economic activity.

Applications for the 2017 funding round are now open!
