Yesterday Mayor of The City of Port Adelaide Enfield, Gary Johanson and Mayor of Cherbourg-En-Cotentin, Benoit Arrivé, officially signed a strategic relationship between the two shipbuilding cities.
This relationship covers many areas and offer opportunities for both of our regions in the areas of business, education, youth, sports, environment, arts and culture, tourism and governance practices.
It also enables a practice exchange and facilitation of industrial and economic contacts on their territories, including areas of maritime activities, energy, innovation and research.
The relationship will open up trade and economic, well as social, arts and cultural opportunities for our mutual benefit.
Here in the state of South Australia, the shipbuilding industry will see the direct creation of nearly 3,000 jobs. Add to this almost another 3,000 jobs in the supply chain and we have an industry based in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield that will be here for many generations and will create job opportunities both now and well into the future.
This Civic Relationship signed yesterday will create the links to welcome the French families who are coming to South Australia as part of the Future Submarines build program.
